Urgent action on the cost of living

Pippa with a constituent discussing cost of living

For many people across South Cambridgeshire, the rising cost of living is a huge cause of stress.  From young families worried about rising mortgage interest rates and childcare fees, to all those struggling with the rising energy bills or costs of the weekly shop, it’s clear urgent action is needed.

The Liberal Democrats are working at local level to support people with the cost of living across South Cambs. The district council has funded a mobile food hub to support those most in need, and the County Council’s Household Support Fund can also help people struggling.

Pippa is calling for urgent action at a national level:

  • More truly affordable housing and a support fund to help those struggling with spiraling mortgage and rental costs
  • Free school meals in the holidays - working with Cambridgeshire County Council
  • A tougher windfall tax on oil and gas profits to help people with sky high energy bills
